Mengalum Island Snorkeling Shared Day Tour with Lunch & Hotel Transfer in Kota Kinabalu | Sabah

My guide was Wayne and I travelled on 20 April 2025. Sunny weather. He ensured that the group of other 4 of us were in safe all the time and took many photos. He recommended to take up the GoPro photo taking add-on, which is such a great recommendation. The guide who took photos were very dedicated and dived all the way down to ensure the best video and photos were taken for keep sake. Thereafter, the photos were transferred over immediately over lunch. Overall, had a pleasant experience and interaction with Wayne. Highly recommended!

It was amazing tour! The guide and team were polite and caring! Picked up / took back to the hotel on time, gave equipments, all the time were swimming with us and showing different creatures. I recommend to feed fish and make videos underwater- it’s worth it! Also it’s cheap and I got the videos on my phone right after the lunch. Food was great, many places where you can take pictures and enjoy gorgeous views 😎

I rarely write reviews, but I was so surprised when I came to Pulau Mantan. I have to share my experience. It was a good experience to board the boat at the yacht pier. I boarded a catamaran. The number of people was controlled and I didn't worry about being too crowded. This was great. Look at my photos. Compared to the previous trip to Mermaid Island, there were more than 40 people in a small boat, like refugees playing. When I arrived at Pulau Mantan, the sand was really fine and white, and the environment was very good. The equipment was very complete and the rest point was very relaxing. It is worth praising the blue ocean, which was so beautiful. I also helped my friends take pictures, and it was easy to take a blockbuster. The tour guide was very friendly and responsible, leading everyone to snorkel and safety measures. It was really a relaxing day. I personally recommend coming to Pulau Belait, Sabah. But there are several companies in Pulau Mantan. It depends on the equipment of the merchant. My MoriMori catamaran is a very good catamaran. It takes about 70 minutes on the sea to reach the island.

It was fun and friendly. Our instructor, Birdy, was very good. He explained everything in detail and was always there to help. He also took us to special spots. Very good.

The tour guide Birdy is very enthusiastic and patient, the service is thoughtful, and he can speak Taiwanese. He is very kind👍

It's beautiful, the weather is good, and the visibility of underwater creatures is very high. It's worth a visit!

We booked this snorkeling trip at the last minute but it was a great decision. None of us four can swim, so we have never tried snorkeling before. However, through this first snorkeling experience, under the friendly and professional guidance of coach Wayne Chen (Ah Xing), we were able to experience the fun of snorkeling and see the different colorful underwater world. It was really interesting.

Five-star coach: Wayne Below are many small details that I paid attention to and want to share, so I will just give the conclusion first: this trip is definitely worth it! First of all, the car that picked us up at the hotel was quite comfortable, and not many people had to squeeze into one car (big plus!). After arriving at the pier, we had to take a boat to Pulau Huantan, which took about 1.5 hours. Before departure, I thought it was a waste of time to take the boat, but this part was a very enjoyable part of the whole day's itinerary! ➡️ The sea view is beautiful, the sea surface is calm, the boat is going super fast (the feeling of riding is very strong, so cool and happy 😆), and the seats are spacious and comfortable (the "not crowded" point alone is a plus). After arriving at Pulau Huatana Toraja, I was amazed by the beauty of the place! The scenery is just like what you see on postcards, so please come and see it for yourself! The sand on the beach is very fine baby powder and feels soft and comfortable to step on☺️ The rest area on the island is quite clean, and the washroom and dining areas are well tidied~ The most important thing is that there are cats on the island, very cute ones! After a quick tidying up and changing clothes, we will take a boat to the snorkeling spot to start looking at corals and fish! This part of the experience is not much different from snorkeling in other places (the part about seeing the fish) but the number of tourists is much different! It feels like it's not super commercialized yet, so you won't run into people on the sea very easily. Overall, you can be very relaxed and watch the fish, corals, and the beautiful sea. After watching, you will return to the island to rest. At this time, you can choose to change clothes or continue to play in the water later in your swimsuit. Then it’s lunch time~ I personally think the food provided is pretty good for an island hopping buffet! Compared to other tours I've participated in before, I think it's really clean and delicious. You can take photos at the beach in the afternoon. The sunny Huantan Island is really super beautiful! (But the sun was too strong, so I chose to hide in a hammock under the shade of a tree to enjoy the scenery.) On the way back, of course, I took the boat that raced all the way, and returned to the pier comfortably with the super cool sea breeze, happily ending this island hopping and snorkeling experience😆 After this trip, I have a few tips for tourists who want to participate: 1. Be sure to bring sunscreen and apply it thickly 2. Bring sunglasses and a straw hat, not only will it look good when taking pictures at the beach, it can also help you get out of the shade of the trees to take pictures😂The sun is really too strong～～～～ 3. Purchase the photo service in the sea! If you don’t have much experience taking photos in the sea, I really recommend purchasing it. It’s really hard to take photos by yourself and you don’t know what you are doing when you finally take photos. 4. Purchase bread to feed the fish (or bring your own white toast) so that you can see a lot of fish 😆 5. When you go snorkeling, you must bring a bath towel and slippers on the boat. This is about it. This experience is really good and recommended to tourists coming to Sabah!

From the pick-up, boat ride, to the scenery, it's all great! The crew and tour guide were very friendly and humorous. The additional photography service was also great. Wayne was very attentive in helping with photography in the sea and on the shore. Recommended
