"Gion Corner" is a dedicated theater located next to Gion, where traditional Japanese performances are performed every day. Here you can enjoy seven traditional art performances including "Kyo Odori" performed by maikos. Because it is located in the "Yae Kaikan" next to the "Gion Kobe Dance Theater Small Theater", it is very popular with Japanese and foreign tourists and is a tourist attraction with a strong international flavor. The venue also has an exhibition area introducing the "Kyoto Five Flowers Street", which introduces the history of "Maiko" to arriving tourists in the form of videos, text introductions, and physical displays.

You can enjoy a variety of traditional Japanese arts at once, and it is a relaxing itinerary for most foreign tourists. There are introductions in English and Japanese during the performances, and there are also programs in various languages, which are relatively easy to understand. At the end, you can take photos with the geisha as a souvenir. Unfortunately, there are no Noh and Bunraku performances in winter. I hope there will be an explanation before purchasing the products.

I saw it more than ten years ago, and I went there again this year, but I was disappointed. First of all, there was no change in all the hardware equipment, which looked old. All the performances were exactly the same, and even more simplified and casual. The finale was a puppet show, but I found out that it was cancelled when I arrived at the scene, and replaced by another dance by geisha. In addition, except for a very simple description of the content on a piece of paper (which has not been revised for many years), there was no translation or subtitles for all the performances. The whole audience was full of foreigners, and many people fell asleep because they really couldn't hear or see it. And because the use of mobile phones was prohibited, they couldn't even turn on the translation. The ticket price is not low, and there has been no improvement in more than ten years, which is really disappointing! Photography is prohibited, and the photos are from Wikimedia Commons.

It is a hodgepodge of performances, more suitable for foreigners who are just getting started with Japanese culture. However, if you want to watch the geisha performance and experience the geisha culture in depth, it is not suitable to come here (the foreigner next to me even fell asleep when I saw it)

A 40-minute hodgepodge of rudimentary performances, only performed by tourists. There are no performances listed on the introduction such as Noh theater or puppet show on that day, only flower arrangement, tea ceremony, etc. Moreover, the introductions in Chinese, English, Korean and other languages were loudly played throughout the performance, which simply annoyed the audience. The performance at 7 p.m. does not include other exhibitions in the museum because they are closed. Summary: Don’t come with the expectation of value for money, you will only come away disappointed. Don't buy it! !
