The actual location for picking up the card in the city center is Hotel Gozsdu Court. You need to walk through the Gozsdu Udvar archway; there are bars and restaurants on both sides. Once you find the hotel inside the arcade (the door might be closed, and the hallway lights might not be on, which is normal; just open the door!), take the elevator to the 2nd floor (3rd floor in Taiwan), and go to the counter at the very back to exchange your card. The hotel counter is open 24 hours. Picking up the card in the city center means missing one opportunity to take the 200E bus from the airport, but I always took the 100E direct bus, so it didn't affect me. Now, when you open the card, the counter staff will ask you for your estimated usage time; you can no longer fill in the card's activation date and time yourself.

In addition to free transportation, you can also experience hot springs and visit museums, which is very diverse.

With this card, you can ride the castle shuttle bus, soak in hot springs, go to the stalactite cave, take night or evening cruises, and go to art galleries and museums... I really regret not buying the 120-hour pass. With the kids, I can just jump on the bus and use it as I please. It's so convenient!

I picked it up at the ibis at the airport. The walk from the airport to the ibis takes about 10-15 minutes, especially since I'm not familiar with the route. The route is quite up and down, so if you have large or heavy luggage, I recommend using the airport trolley, which might be easier. Tell the receptionist about KKday and they'll start processing it right away, so you don't have to wait too long.

The hop-on hop-off ticket is highly recommended for those who travel independently, and can be used on all trams and buses.

Pick it up at the IBIS Hotel near the airport. Turn right after entering the hotel and pick it up at the counter in front of the elevator. Pick up the card immediately and take the 200E bus back to the city. Remember to register it online. If you lose it, you can go to the service center to get a new card.

The Budapest Card is very convenient to use and allows you to participate in the Buda and Pest walking tours, many museums and transportation for free. It is highly recommended for tourists who travel independently. However, because we encountered ticket inspection during the trip, we were fined 12,000 forints each. As a result, after we went to the Budapest Card Tourism Service Center to complain, although the counter staff was very friendly and helped us to appeal, we might not get the money back, and being fined really makes us feel bad. So I would like to remind everyone that if you use the Budapest Card, as long as you are sure that your expiration date is correct, you must argue with reason, and it doesn’t matter if you even go to the police station to show your passport. You just can’t be fined on the spot, otherwise you may not get the money back after appealing.
