Oita Fragrance Museum Admission Ticket and DIY Experience | Japan

I booked the ticket with both the admission and perfume-making experience. I went with a friend and my parents. Both my friend and my parents loved the experience. We did not speak Japanese and the teacher/guide told us that while she will guide the class using Japanese, we do not have to worry about not understanding because we can just follow the English guidebook in front of us. I enjoyed the museum exhibit too of course. Just a note to not go wild smelling everything in the museum before starting the perfume-making since your nose may go blind according to my friend!

Nice museum telling history of perfumes, defined worth a visit if you’re into perfumes. Definitely highlight of the visit was perfume making workshop - you need a reservation at least one day in advance. Workshop is not in English, but there are English instructions and you can also ask additional questions to the staff.

They have an English guide for you, so don’t worry! The programme was really good.

Lovely museum. The making of your own perfume was very fun. The explanation was only in Japanese but they have a really good instruction leaflet so it is certainly possible to join.

Helpful instructor and an overall amazing museum.

It was a fun fragrance making experience. However, the different top mid and end notes that were provided for mixing were kinda pre-mixed with other scents and narrowed to a few scents, which made it a bit tough for me to find something i actually liked. the session was about 40mins long but time flies really fast. We then spent some time exploring the museum which was full of interesting facts and scents that you can experience.

This was a lovely thing to do if you have spare time. It is a very interesting museum all about the history of smelling good, but the highlight is definitely making your own perfume. The instructor speaks a little English but is very helpful and they have guide books in English. my tip is to follow your instincts, and if the first round smells right, don't change it. T.T

I was so excited when I learned you could make you own perfume! Unfortunately it was over a school break and holiday period that i came across this museum, so all the openings were filled and I couldn't attend. I made a special trip back just for this class. The class was very well presented, and enjoyable. I give 4-stars because the class felt a little rushed, there was little interaction between the instructor and students individually and all verbal instruction was in Japanese. The papers with the class had English, but it wasn't sufficient to really know what was going on solely from the papers.

The staff were very kind and I had a lot of fun making perfume!!! I'm glad I was able to experience something that you don't often get to do at an affordable price!
