Short and informative experience within a matcha tea shop, used the original tools and learned about the proper way to make and consume during a tea ceremony.

Okay, so I got lost initially from finding the store the coz the map isn't that clear neither did it say where specifically. It's Kanbayashi Sannyu Main Shop (Google this). It's half way in the lane/alley. The person who taught us the matcha stone milling was very fun and entertaining. I enjoyed his lesson a lot, every minute. I felt like it compensated a lot the frustrating feeling from finding the store and from having to do the activity late. Loved the experience!

The owner gave us a fun tour. He told us a lot of things, such as the history of the shop, the difference between Uji tea and other teas, how to grind and prepare matcha, etc. The tea was absolutely delicious!

The tutor is professional and nice. He took photos with each of us and gave us time to take photos. Easy to follow the steps and learnt some tea culture.

My 8 year old daughter and I spent the day in Uji while staying in Osaka. We did have a small challenge finding the shop but the surrounding shops were very helpful and pointed us in the right direction. Once we arrived, someone greeted us right away despite the shop being busy and made us feel very welcome. We really enjoyed the matcha grinding and learning about the proper way to make and drink matcha. There was someone who instructed us in English which I wasn't expecting but it was nice to be able to ask lots of questions. He was very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. We learned about the history of that matcha shop, which goes back over 500 years and 16 (I think) generations! The experience was wonderful and the shop was nice to get lots of treats to take home. Can't wait to go back! The tiny udon shop at the end of the road was amazing too!

The staff were very friendly and were very good at talking, and they took lots of photos for us. They also taught us how to make matcha in a relaxed manner, so we were able to have a relaxing experience.
