KKday used WhatsApp to contact me after I place order for the trip which is convenient. They give very clear instructions where to meet up with the tour guide Ken san. Ken is Japanese but speaks Mandarin very well. He’s a good and experienced driver to drive on icy snowy road. He also gave good recommendations for good food around Sapporo. We had a good time.

The highlight for me was Lake Toya. It was really beautiful. Our driver / guide, Ms. Jayce was also very thoughtful since it was only my family who didn’t speak chinese or japanese, she tried hard to explain what was next in our itinerary and how long we will stay in the certain area. We truly appreciated her efforts and looking out for us.

The time for each stop was just right, neither too fast nor too slow. The tour guide, Mr. Ken Yamaguchi, was very enthusiastic and shared a lot of food and attractions with everyone!

Thanks to the guidance of our guide Yamaguchi, we experienced the corn and asparagus prepared by local farmers, and also learned about the characteristics of each hot spring shop. The most important thing is that the hot spring near Jigokudani is really great.

It would be better if you could stay 10 minutes longer at the first stop, the observatory. Because the place is small and there are many people. You have to queue up to use the restroom, take photos, buy souvenirs, etc., so time is a bit tight. Stay time in other places - moderately arranged 👍 If you are not traveling by car, it is highly recommended to go with a tour group, which is comfortable and saves time on taking the bus 💪

Early May is the off-season in Hokkaido. There are so few members in the group that even the 9-person minibus cannot be fully occupied. The driver also serves as the tour guide, so there is no tour guide to gather in advance at the departure point. You will see the minibus coming to pick up people only when the departure time arrives. There is enough time to go shopping, see the scenery, and take photos at these attractions, but if you want to do more in-depth activities, such as: Toya Lake Tour Boat and Showa Shinzan Mountain Cable Car, time will be very tight.
