Our tour guide, Ding Ding, was a warm and knowledgeable local who explained things clearly and always had a smile on his face. The person in charge provided the vehicle license plate number on the day of the tour. We boarded the bus at our hotel in Da Nang at 1 pm and headed to Hoi An. After getting off the bus, we stood for a while waiting for the rest of our group to arrive. Our first stop, at 2:20 pm, was the silk shop 41 Le Loi Workshop. Inside, we saw women doing embroidery, and the paintings hanging on the walls were for sale. Upstairs, there were shops selling silkworm cocoons and souvenirs. There was no pressure to buy anything, but we were required to stay in the shops for a while. Reviews were found on Google. If you didn't want to buy anything, you could go downstairs and wait. Next, we went to the ticket office to buy tickets. The order stated that admission was included, but the tour guide on-site asked us to pay an additional 240,000 VND for two people, which felt like a rip-off. Our second stop, at 2:55 pm, was the Japanese Covered Bridge, which is a bridge with a temple inside. The tour guide explained the local architecture and history. The area around the bridge was also beautiful, but we didn't linger and just quickly took photos. Our third stop, at 3:20 pm, was Tan Kee Old House, which was packed with tour groups. We sat inside listening to the tour guide's explanation. The exit connected to a souvenir shop, where they demonstrated the "greedy cup," saying it was unique to their shop. Although I had seen this cup in other countries, they didn't push it on me; if I wasn't interested, I could wait outside. Our fourth stop, at 3:45 pm, was the Fujian Association. One of our group members forgot to follow, and no one noticed because the tour guide was walking very fast, so we waited for him to catch up. Inside, you could pray. After the tour guide's explanation (4:15 pm), we took a bus to the coconut grove. Our fifth stop, at 4:45 pm, was a coconut boat ride that lasted at least half an hour. We could see the sunset on the way back, which was quite nice. After disembarking, we prepared for dinner at 5:30 pm. It was typical group food quality: a salad for two, fried spring rolls and pancakes, a bowl of noodles and coconut for each person, and a few slices of watermelon. After walking around for so long, I wasn't very full. Then we waited for the bus to take us back to the old town. There were so many of us that we had to sit close to our group members. At our sixth stop, at 6:50 pm, we queued for 20 minutes on the river. There were two 4-person boats and one 2-person boat for our group of nine. We spent 10 minutes in the 4-person boat, releasing water lanterns – a great atmosphere. Before boarding, the tour guide said goodbye. After the boat ride, we had free time. We were told to arrive at the meeting point at 8:30 pm to board the bus, and were reminded to arrive 10 minutes early. After exploring the night market, we arrived at the meeting point at 8:20 pm, but the bus was at least 15 minutes late. We didn't depart immediately after boarding; we had to wait for other people who weren't part of the group. The bus only left after it was full, and we finally got off across the street from our hotel. The entire itinerary was rushed, wasting a lot of time waiting, and was extremely poor value for money. It's one thing for a single person, but for two or more people, calling Grab and buying tickets is simple, cheap, and avoids sharing with others and visiting tourist traps.
