Schedule

Day 1

10:30

Depart from the city to Mount Dandenong, travel through the verdant Dandenong Mountains, experience Australia's natural ecology, and head to the century-old steam train (delayed by about 2 hours during summer time)

12:45

The first stop of the trip is the Puffin Billy Steam Train. The Puffin Billy Steam Train is one of the oldest steam trains in Australia, located 42 kilometers east of Melbourne.

14:00

Drive to Maru Wildlife Park to see kangaroos, koalas, emus and other Australian animals. Here, you can feed kangaroos and parrots, watch koalas in real life, and see the endangered Tasmanian devil to truly understand Australian animals. (About 40 minutes)

15:30

Then head to the center of Nobbies Point, where you will have the opportunity to see the seal colony. (About 30 minutes)

17:10

The last stop of the trip is watching the penguins returning to their nests. Penguin Island is famous for its fairy penguins. On the Summerland Beach in the southwest of the island, there live many of the world's smallest fairy penguins, about 30 cm tall. There are now more than 30,000 penguins living on Phillip Island. Every year, many tourists from all over the world come to the viewing platform and observation path of Phillip Island Nature Park to watch the penguin parade. In order to protect the penguin habitat, the nature park can only accommodate 500,000 visitors each year. Penguin Island Nature Reserve is currently the world's largest wild penguin protection base. Here, a large number of wildlife experts are engaged in penguin research and protection. (About 45 minutes)

21:30

Return to Melbourne city (around 23:30 DST)

The steam train was a fun little trip, and everyone was very excited! Sitting on the windowsill and stretching out your legs, it was very comfortable! Afterwards, we went to Phillip Island to see the penguins on the way home. Although the journey was long, we had to wait until after 6pm to see the penguins, but these were wild penguins, and they were different from the penguins seen in the zoo, very special!

The itinerary was 10 points, with enough time to rest. It was 10 points when we arrived at the city center.

The tour guide was very professional and very nice. He kept introducing and guiding the attractions. The arrangement of the whole trip was perfect. The train was also arranged in the middle carriage, so that both the front and rear of the train could be admired and photographed, creating very beautiful travel memories.

The professional and conscientious driver James introduced the scenery, culture and history in detail along the way, and managed the time appropriately. Taking the train, feeding kangaroos, and watching penguins returning to their nests was honestly the most enriching and fun day of the free travel in the past few days.

The whole trip was very good, especially the tour guide and driver David, who was kind and sincere. He explained the stories and history of the scenic spots on the way and took the initiative to help take pictures. The zoo was not included in the fee, which was 33 Australian dollars for adults. Although the zoo was small, you could get close to the kangaroos, feed them, and take pictures. The tour guide would also tell you the best viewing position to see the little penguins returning to their nests.

This tour was very satisfying, and I especially want to praise our tour guide David Chen. He was very enthusiastic and helpful. He not only took good care of the needs of the group members, but also took a lot of beautiful photos for us, leaving precious memories. David also had a very accurate grasp of the time of the itinerary and arranged the overall rhythm well. During the tour, he shared many small stories and historical allusions of the scenic spots, allowing us not only to take a quick look, but also to gain a deeper understanding of the local culture and background, which was very rewarding. Overall, this is a very recommended trip, and having a dedicated tour guide like David is a big plus! I will participate again if I have the chance in the future, and I will recommend it to my friends!

It is a very worthwhile trip. The zoo fee is at your own expense, but you can get close to kangaroos, which is worth it.

The train is worth taking. The scenery along the way is very beautiful. The tour guide George is very good. He took us to see wild kangaroos. Although we can't take pictures when seeing penguins, we can concentrate on seeing the cute penguins😍
