斯德哥爾摩王宮坐落在老城區的斯塔丹島上，是瑞典國王辦公和舉行慶典的地方，也是斯德哥爾摩的主要旅遊景點。王宮始建於中世紀，早期是一個軍事堡壘，17世紀末期經過逐步改造、擴建，成了今日的王宮。王宮臨水而建，建築呈四方形分佈，為一座方形小城堡，白色的外牆大氣典雅。如今瑞典王室並不住在這裡，而是住在在郊區的皇后島，但國王每天都開車到王宮來上班。
