The boat is clean, not shaking, and travels quite fast. Starting from Budai, it takes about an hour to reach Magong, Penghu. Ticket prices are discounted if purchased on KKday.

I took the 4:00 PM one-way ticket from Magong to Budai. It was nearly 20% cheaper than the price listed on the printed ticket, and perhaps by chance, I was assigned a good window seat. The boarding procedure begins with issuing a paper boarding pass at the port counter after 8:30 AM on the day of boarding. You'll need your passport or other ID at that time. You'll also be asked to go through security by 3:00 PM. Security opened at 2:30 PM. You'll need your boarding pass and ID, but you didn't need to take out your laptop. The boat departed 10 minutes before the scheduled time and arrived in just over an hour.
