Great for traveling around

The BritRail England Pass is a useful pass when you are travelling extensively on the train system (e.g. York, Salisbury, Bath). We were also able to use this on the Heathrow Express train. The ticket is a QR code you scan at the ticket gates. Sometimes it did not scan and we had to go through the ticket gate agent.

I pity the locals who can't use this pass. This was a bit confusing to activate, but comes in extremely handy during my travels: most stations have QR code scanners, so do ticket-checking staff on the trains. I was anxious that problems might arise but they never did. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the pass includes local railways such as Merseyrail in Liverpool. In the end, just one of my several long-distance journeys alone was worth the price of the pass.

The QR code is very convenient. You need to go to the counter and print it with a physical ticket. However, sometimes the gate is scanned to the red light, and the quarantine staff opens the door to enter. Beware that the BritRail England pass can only be in the range of England, and wales, Scotland (Edinburgh) can get there. I will definitely buy it next time! Because it is cheap and convenient.

I booked a ticket that allowed me to use First Class, and I was able to sit comfortably on short routes, and even on longer routes I was able to reserve a seat at the ticket counter, which was very convenient. I wasn't confident in my English, but the station staff were very kind and helpful. The flexibility in my itinerary was also great for a solo traveler.

It's convenient for planning the trip, but the name on the pass can't display the full passport name due to character limits, which initially worried me. However, so far in the trip, I haven't encountered any passport checks, and I've also confirmed with customer service at merchants on KKday that there are no issues.

Activate your ticket before you go and head straight to your train. While it doesn't include the Underground, it's valid at any London Underground or train transfer station. It's seamless. Highly recommended!
