One-day round trip transfer from Hsinchu Simakus｜Depart from Taipei/New Taipei/Taoyuan/Hsinchu

The driver was humorous and experienced, and was willing to share. The Yaya sacred tree in Simakus was magnificent. The journey was long, but it was worth it. I hope I can arrange a 2-day and 1-night trip next time.

The driver was great at driving on mountain roads. The Simakus Mountain Road was bumpy. It was raining and foggy when we were going down the mountain, but the driver's skills were really good and he drove very fast all the way. The price was also very reasonable, highly recommended!

I didn't get carsick. The driver I met was very familiar with me. The mountain road conditions were very good and I felt relieved. He also reminded me that after climbing the mountain, no matter where I walked, I must walk back at 2 o'clock to gather at 4 o'clock. It would be more difficult to encounter long steep slopes on the way back.

The driver Coke was very enthusiastic and all the arrangements were great, but the ride was long and it was easy to get carsick on the mountain road.

Driver Zhang Zhengxiong has very steady driving skills! The car is very clean and tidy, and the driver is very professional and attentive. He will introduce and guide the background of Simakus on the car. I highly recommend this trip!

Be sure to go to Shenmu District! Totally worth it! The one-day tour was really rushed. We arrived in Simakus around 11 o'clock that day, started from the trail entrance at 11:40, took photos along the way and walked 5.3K to the final Shenmu area at around 2 o'clock (we sped up our pace later!). There were scenery all the way! It was a fairyland. The point is that we went there just after it rained. In fact, it didn’t rain much that day. We didn’t even take out the light raincoat and umbrella in our bag. The humidity was high, and the whole mountain forest was filled with fog and fairy air. This was the scenery I wanted! The sacred trees are filled with fairy air, which makes you feel more immersed in them. It is different from the feeling seen in the sunny day photos on the Internet. We planned to return to the original place and gather at 4 o'clock, and must turn back and leave from the last Mother Sacred Tree at 2 o'clock. It was a pity that we could not stay there longer to absorb the essence of the thousand-year-old tree. The entire cypress area is filled with the scent of cypress. Unfortunately, the typhoon Kangrui cut off some of the fragrance, but it also made the fragrance more intense. I really took a deep breath when I passed by there. It was great! If you complete the entire trail in one day, you won’t have time to plan other activities like visiting the waterfall area or enjoying the food in the local restaurants. The high humidity and thick fog actually make it difficult to view the scenery from a high place. For example, from the Yu Lao Observation Deck, you can't see the magnificent scenery of mountains and clouds when the weather is clear. It can be considered a trade-off, you would rather have a fairyland than scenery, or you would rather have scenery than a fairyland. And I would like to thank our driver, Brother Wei (who is also an aboriginal!) for keeping us safe during this journey! It was really hard to drive up the mountain in two consecutive rainy days and the weather was cold. He also shared interesting places in the car. He was a travel partner willing to share and chat. He was also very enthusiastic to help his companions get off the car and hold umbrellas. Excellent~

It's about 5 kilometers from the parking lot to the giant tree area, but because of the heavy rain, we only walked half of it! The free time was about 1100-1600 (because of the heavy rain, our driving time was extended, plus we had to eat in the restaurant for an hour to avoid the rain), so it was a pity that we didn’t finish the walk and see the giant trees! I will probably choose two days and one day next time 🤣
