Alishan Sunrise 1-Day Tour from Taichung: Zhushan Train Station, Zhushan Sunrise & Zhaoping Station | Chiayi, Taiwan

On my first thought, the only two negatives about this trip is; first, minimum of 4 pax required. Second, in the case of insufficient participant, they might arrange non-English speaking tour guide which might be troublesome for foreigners. Good thing, we manage to see what we yearned for, even sea of clouds were there during sunrise. It was all worth it. Not to mention, you are in good hands with the awesome tour guide, Ji Ge (吉哥). His skilled manoeuvre through the hilly roads under low visibility is commendable.

This is a great option if you’re not into organizing the logistics of getting to Alishan to see the sunrise. The driver picks you up at the hotel, takes you there, takes photos for you and tells you where the best spots to observe the sunrise! And you save money by not having to stay at Alishan.

Our driver 小鬼 drove safely and steadily up the mountain. He also tried his best provide explanation to the different sights along the way and accommodate everyone’s needs. For example, a tour mate wanted to buy Alishan tea and he seek everyone’s consensus to bring us to a tea shop for tasting. We were lucky enough to catch the sunrise! It would be better if we had queued to buy tickets earlier to board the first train. We ended up boarding the next train and had to rush to catch the sunrise.

The service of Xiaogui is very good! The recommended food is delicious and cheap.

Though we failed to see the sunrise due to the weather, our guide 阿吉哥 still enriched the tour with a walk along with his knowledge about the Alishan forest! Really loved the energy despite the super cold weather. Though my friend and I failed to catch the sunrise but the experience was 100/10! 謝謝你的帶團與照顧阿吉哥！✨

He was very knowledgeable about the history of Alishan and alternative routes around it. The ride was also very comfortable. He always paid attention to the comfort of each guest, was very patient, and was happy to take photos of each guest. It was a great experience and highly recommended.

Is very touching when you watched the glimpse of sunlight started to rise higher and higher. You'll feel it's a start of a new day. Worth a visit. Thank god we had good weather too. But, so remember to keep yourself warm during winter visit!

Wasn't able to see the sunrise during this trip as it was covered with thick clouds. Driver Xiao Feng was quite interactive during the trip. Overall the trip was quite ok if you have disregarded additional cost incurred. Xiao Feng brought us to a Alishan tea house, as we were on our way back. The shop owner was very nice and let us try his tea, took some photos at his tea plantation. To note for consideration: 1) pick up timing from taichung was at 1am (earliest if they have multiple pick up locations) 2) the cost stated in kkdays was only for the driver's transport up from taichung to alishan entrance 3) Alishan Entrance fees need to be booked separately via Klooks. <<hence additional cost>> 4) the recomendation for the trip was going up via tour bus and coming down by train, foot and tour bus. <<hence additional cost for each mode of transport>>

Tour agency will add you into a line chat group to coordinate meeting time. Driver was on time and have good driving skill up the winding roads. There is a pit stop at 711 mid way for toilet break/grab a small bite. Room for improvement: driver was not able to show us up alishan as parking lots was full. Thankfully my group has helpful locals who knew the way up and guided us on ticket purchase and walking trails to explore. Do note that alishan entrance ticket n train ticket are not included, pls purchase them at least one day before the tour to avoid long queue and risk of ticket sold out/miss sunrise timing. tour ended with lunch (self paid) and ride back to hotel.

Thank you, Mr. Seven, for taking us up the mountain to see the sunrise in the middle of the night. You really worked hard to let us see this rare beautiful scenery. We were very lucky that day. Although it was very cold, the moment the sun shone out, it felt like our souls were cleansed.
