The Ogimachi area of Shirakawa Village, Ono District, Gifu Prefecture, is known as a village where over 100 large and small Gassho-style houses remain and where people still live their lives. It was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995, and it is said that it was highly praised not only for its buildings and scenery, but also for the mutual support among the residents that is rooted in the community. It is a place like a "Japanese hometown" where you can deeply experience the rural culture, lifestyle and living that are the original scenery of Japan.
