Aso Takachiho Day Trip from Kumamoto: Explore Aso Crater & Takachiho Gorge with Lunch | Japan

This tour is a must go. Very well coordinated and the guides plus driver were very good. Even though we could not go to the crater due to bad weather, the tour was still good. Takachiho Gorge was beautiful.

This tour package does not really have tour/location explanation. Rather, it’s helping to arrange people, transport and lunch. Good coordination.

Tour guide can provide english information even for non japanish & chinese speaking

The weather was not good with light rain and visibility was bad at Mt Aso. But, both tour guides were good! Did not expect a native Japanese together with a Chinese-speaking guide. Overall, the tour started on time and ended on schedule.

Not getting to see mt aso sucked.

There is a Chinese tour guide, the itinerary is very tight and there is time to walk around. It is very tiring to drive back and forth to these attractions by yourself. It is great to have this one-day tour group. Not only can you see the scenery, but you can also learn the stories of the attractions. It is a great experience

The overall experience was rich and smooth. The itinerary was a bit tight, but after all, it was for the sake of visiting the places. Kusasenri was comfortable, Takachiho Gorge was super beautiful, and Ama-Iwato cultivated the body and mind. The overall process was great. We took the one-day tour on 5/10, which allowed us to see Takachiho Gorge and Aso Volcano at the same time. Unfortunately, the weather was bad at Aso Volcano, so we changed to Kusasenri and Aso Volcano Museum, but there was also thick fog, and visibility was extremely low. We could only barely see the parking lot. Fortunately, the weather cleared up after we left the mountainous area, and the scenery along the way was beautiful. When we arrived at Takachiho Gorge, the sun was shining brightly. The boating facilities at Takachiho Gorge were temporarily suspended, but we were not sure whether it was due to rising river water or other reasons. There was a notice posted saying that the service was suspended. The atmosphere at Amayasu River and Amano Iwato Shrine is quiet and solemn, with a bit of mystery. The tour guide and the translator were both very good. They would remind us of some precautions in a timely manner. The driver drove steadily, especially on the foggy mountain roads on Mount Aso. The shop and cafe on the first floor of the Aso Museum sell Aso milk and ice cream. Both the milk and ice cream are very rich. Aso milk is also sold in the shops at the airport, but it is not seen in convenience stores and supermarkets in downtown Kumamoto. It is recommended to stay at Aso Volcano (Kusasenri + Museum) for half an hour longer and return to the city later in the evening. After watching the video introduction of Aso Volcano and the exhibition area, there are only 15-20 minutes left to go to the bathroom + go shopping + take photos. If there is no heavy fog, it will be too late to walk to the grassland of Kusasenri to take photos.

The tour guide was very enthusiastic and the schedule was very tight. It's a pity that we didn't see the crater of Mount Aso due to weather conditions.
