This is the remains of Lake Bonneville and the largest of the many salt marshes west of the Great Salt Lake. We will also take you to the Bonneville Salt Flats International Raceway. The Bonneville Salt Flats International Raceway is an area of the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah that is dedicated to motorsports. It is known for setting multiple land speed records. The Bonneville Salt Flats racetrack is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The salt flats were first used for motorsports in 1912, but it did not really become popular until the 1930s when Abe Jenkins and Sir Malcolm Campbell competed to set land speed records. As of 2014, events at Bonneville were canceled due to a reduction in the available track surface and salt thickness.
