The Daishirakawa River, which flows from the sacred mountain Hakusan, becomes snow-white and turbid after merging with the Shogawa River. This is the origin of the name Shirakawa-go. Around 10:00 Kenrokuen Garden & Kanazawa Castle Park 1.5H Kenrokuen Garden is one of the "Three Great Gardens" of Japan, along with Mito Kairakuen and Okayama Korakuen. As a very representative daimyo (feudal lord) garden of the Edo period, it has become what it is today through the unremitting efforts of successive lords of the Kaga domain. Kenrokuen Garden is located in the center of Kanazawa City. As a garden where you can enjoy the beauty of the four seasons, it is loved by many Ishikawa Prefecture residents and tourists from all over the world. While Kenrokuen makes extensive use of "circuitous" gardening elements, it also integrates gardening techniques from many eras, combining the best of many schools. Unlike gardens that can be viewed from a sitting position in a temple's living room or the palace's academy, strolling gardens make maximum use of the land space, digging large ponds, building rockery, and dotted with pavilions and teahouses. Visitors need to visit them one by one to appreciate the entire view. Because there are ponds scattered around the garden and winding water running through them, rockery built with soil excavated from the ponds, and colorful flowers, plants and trees, it is also called a "rockery, forest and spring, wandering garden".
Kenrokuen Garden in winter (December-February) The gardeners of Kenrokuen Garden use bamboo poles and ropes to form elegant "snow slings" to support the trees and prevent the branches from breaking due to the accumulation of snow.
Kanazawa Castle Kanazawa Castle is a historic castle park and one of the more important tourist attractions in the area. The park is world-renowned for its magnificent architecture, beautiful gardens and rich history and culture. Kanazawa Castle is the site of Kanazawa Castle, an important castle during the Edo period. Some of the original buildings are preserved within the park, including the main castle tower and some samurai residences. These buildings showcase the exquisite craftsmanship and aesthetics of traditional Japanese architecture, allowing visitors to feel the splendor and glory of the past.
Around 11:30 Omicho Market (including lunch time 2 hours)
Explore Kanazawa's winding markets - a food lover's dream for satisfying their curiosity. Since 1804, Kanazawa's Omicho Market has been one of Ishikawa Prefecture's top seafood markets. The market has fresh seafood and shellfish from the Sea of Japan every day, and from 9 am to 5 pm every day you can see local chefs, store owners, Kanazawa residents and tourists walking around in the bustling market.
Around 14:00 East Tea House Street about 1H There are three major tea house streets that have continued from the Edo period to the present day, namely Nishi Tea House Street, East Tea House Street and Kazuemachi. Higashi Chaya Street is the largest among them. At present, the appearance of Higashi Chaya Street still retains the style of the Edo period, with wooden houses lined up on both sides of the cobblestone road. The renovated old buildings have now become restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops. This is an important collection of traditional Japanese buildings.
Gather for the return trip around 15:00 (the specific time will depend on the tour leader's arrangement on the day)
Arrived at Nagoya Station at 18:00, and the pleasant journey ended!
