A trip to Tokyo with my mother in her 70s. Rather than visiting the usual tourist attractions, we wanted to have a special experience, so we chose the Yakatabune Dinner Cruise. To sum it up, it was the most satisfying choice on this trip. We arrived at the office right in front of the pier about an hour early, checked in, and went to the bathroom for a while. (For reference, I was surprised that the office bathroom was as clean as a hotel bathroom.) Then, we boarded the ship about 10 minutes early. The ship we boarded was A, and there were about 15 passengers of various nationalities, including Koreans, Japanese, and Westerners. The seats were set in advance, and some of the food was prepared. We ordered the 'Spring Day Set', which consisted of sashimi, steamed crab, grilled fish, and fried food on the spot. The fried food was particularly impressive, as they fried various ingredients such as sea bream, eel, gamaji, eggplant, and sweet potato right on the spot. The drinks were unlimited, including beer, whiskey, shochu, sake, wine, and highball, and you could enjoy as many drinks as you want. The cruise departed from Asakusa and sailed toward Odaiba, passing major attractions along the Sendai River, and you could hear friendly explanations in Japanese and English. The consideration that the boat stopped for a while so that you could take pictures was impressive, and in particular, under the Rainbow Bridge in Odaiba, you were given time to go up to the rooftop for about 20 minutes to take pictures with the night view. The 2 hour and 30 minute cruise was the perfect time to enjoy a wonderful dinner, drinks, and the beautiful night view of Tokyo all at once. I sincerely recommend it to anyone who wants to have a different experience in Tokyo.
