[2026 New Year's Eve Recommendation] Shiding Day Trip | Shiding Xu Family Noodles & Mengmeng Forest Story & Thousand Island Lake & Bagua Tea Garden & Shenkeng Old Street | Departing from Taipei | Taipei's Most HIGH New Year's City in 2026

Having visited Taipei many times, we have been to most, if not all, of the touristy attraction. This was a new experience for us, and it was truly a hidden gem. The weather was good so the views were really pretty. Be prepared to walk quite a bit, although I think the tour guide would customise accordingly to the fitness level of the group. As we were a group of young people, we were able to go to slightly more difficult walking areas. As for the old street, we came on a weekday so there weren’t many stores open. It would be better to book this on a weekend if you prefer shopping at the old street. Mr Zhang was a friendly and good tour guide as well. (Do note it’s a Chinese-speaking tour).

I wouldn't have visited the places by myself. It is really convenient with the driver and some form of explanation on the areas.

The tour I joined is a group of 4. The tour guide is good in his driving and gives good explanation when we went for the nature trek. As the shops on Shiding Old Street is mostly closed on the day we went, the tour guide change plans and went to Shenkeng old street instead. The fried tofu and tofu ice cream are must try. We also tried green tea candy and green tea ice-cream which taste good and unique and are different from japanese Matcha ice cream. Recommended tour.

Guide was very friendly and helpful, and shared a lot of fun anecdotes during the trip. Weather was poor but view was still pretty and we still had a good time!

The whole trip was a breeze with the tour guide (Mr Lin). He is very friendly and helpful throughout the tour, and he made sensible changes to the itinerary when needed. Pro tip for people who are intending to join this tour, do take note that mandarin is necessary. Unless they arrange a driver who can speak English. But overall, amazing and fruitful trip. Shiding old street however is smaller than expected. But the bagua tea plantation is very beautiful, simple tasting food and cute house animal around. Thousand island lake need no explanation. Just really pretty. Did hope that we could have gone to the next mountain to have a full view of it though.

A very green day trip out of the city and if u like hiking or nature, this goes on a 1km hike through the fern forest, along a stream. this was a very nice feast for our eyes. even though it was slightly drizzling, it was a different kind of experience away from the buzzing city for the kids. Our guide, Mr Lin, drove very carefully along the mountain roads and is very informative but cos this is off the beaten path, don't expect anything touristy, ie. food or souvenir stalls.

Our guide was great and very informative. The weather tho, was not so nice.😅

The driver and guide on our trip was really enthusiastic, knowledgeable and made sure we were well taken care of. He event went the extra mile to show us some sights which only true locals will know. Kudos

be prepared to walk up and down slopes, but the views of the lake and forest stream was worthwhile. cool weather in March made it even better!
